Grateful Aging Program (GAP)® – From the Journal of Aging Science May 2016. (Download PDF Essay)
Understanding and managing the process of aging is a central issue in modern society. This is a critical factor given the demographic shifts toward an aging population and the negative stereotypes around aging that can limit people’s worldview on aging with gratitude and well-being. Building on three decades of qualitative and quantitative studies on positive worldview transformation at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, this paper applies an empirically derived naturalistic model of transformation to aging. The Grateful Aging Practice (GAP)© is introduced as a set of transformative steps to promote well-being and shift fear of aging into inspiration for living well.
